POLICY/PROCEDURE |
An MT
appears on the MBON website but cannot provide proof that
they "Successfully Completed" the DDA MTTP. |
They must
take and "Successfully Complete" the DDA 20 hour DDA MTTP
Class, obtain a renewal application from the MBON and submit
it to their Agency within 30 days of taking 20 hour DDA MTTP
class. |
The MT
expired on the MBON website. |
They must
take and "Successfully Complete" the DDA 20 hour DDA MTTP
Class, obtain and complete a MT Renewal Application from the
MBON and submit it to their Agency within 30 days of taking
20 hour DDA MTTP class. |
How does the
MT get an MT Renewal Application? |
They must
obtain one from the MBON. This must be done in person with
photo ID. |
What is the
process when someone completes their MBON MT Renewal
Application and they are current on the MBON? |
The Agency should:
- carefully review the application for errors
- make a copy for their records
- submit the Renewal Application to the Delegating
Nurse to sign. The delegating Nurse will return the
signed application and the Agency will submit it to the
MBON with any necessary fees
|
How much
before the MT's expiration date can they take the 2 year DDA
MTTP Update Class? |
An MT may
take the 2 year DDA MTTP Clinical Update class up to 90 days
prior to their expiration. |
What is the grace period for
expirations, how soon before and how late after can staff
take the class and get credit? |
There is a
30 day grace period for expirations. A person expires on the
28th day of the month/year (even/odd) of their birthday.
Once a person is 30 days past their expiration date, they
would need to take the entire 20 hour DDA MTTP class, obtain
a Renewal Application from the MBON and submit the completed
application to their Agency so it can be signed by the
Delegating Nurse and submitted to the MBON. |
An MT was to
take a 20 hour DDA MTTP Class because they expired in the
MBON website. The MT took the 2 year DDA MTTP Update Class
instead. Do they still have to take the entire 20 hour DDA
MTTP Class? |
Yes, they
should not have signed up or attended the 2 year DDA MTTP
Update Class. They would need to take the entire 20 hour
DDA MTTP Class, obtain an MT Renewal Application (from MBON)
and submit the completed application to their Agency within
30 days of completing the course. |
If an MT
takes the 2 yr update course due to medication
administration errors and the class is within 6 months prior
to the MBON expiration date, does the staff still have to
take the 2 year update class again so they can be updated on
the MBON website? |
Yes, the MT
would have to re-take another 2 year MTTP Update Class. If
an MT made the number of Medication Administration errors to
make them take a refresher class, they need as much review
and training as possible. |
How does the
MBON website arrive at the expiration date for a MT? |
The
expiration date is in relation to the month and year in
which an MT was born. An MT will always expire (on the 28th
day) in their birth month. You will expire in an even year
if you were born on an even year and you will expire in an
odd year if you were born in an odd year. |
When will an
MT receive their Renewal Application from the MBON? |
An MT will
receive an MT Renewal Application (mailed to the address on
record at the MBON) from the MBON approximately 90 days
prior to your expiration date (birthday). |
How long
after completing the 2 year DDA MTTP Clinical Update can a
renewal application be submitted for the Delegating Nurse to
sign and be submitted to the MBON? |
The
completed MBON Renewal Application should be completed and
submitted to the Delegating Nurse within 30 days of
completing the class. |
MBON DISCIPLINE ISSUES
|
When a
person answers yes to any of the discipline questions (being
arrested, charged with and/or convicted, of a misdemeanor
and/or felony) on their Initial MT Application, what
is the process? |
The staff
will receive written instructions from DHCA at the MTTP on
documents they will need to provide in order to submit their
application. Once all documents are received, we will
submit the application to the MBON. We must receive
documents within 30 days of completing the MTTP course.
The MBON will review all documents and decide if they will
approve the staff to become a MT. The staff and agency are
responsible for follow up with the MBON to see if they have
been approved. Once the staff or agency receive
notification (via MBON website) that they have been
approved, they must contact DHCA and provide documentation
that they are approved as an MT, and DHCA will add them to
the Approved MT agency list and provide the “successful
letter of completion”. STAFF MAY NOT GIVE MEDICATIONS UNTIL
THEY HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE APPROVED MT AGENCY LIST. |

has documents on file. |
